“Making of rim” by Deepak Kumar
Hello guys I have just created this tutorial for beginners who does not know the tricks of modeling a rim quickly.

I want to get the shape of car rim like the one in Mercedes slr mclaren because its tricky to model it . Before actually start modeling it , we will model it in three parts and then we are going to weld them to finish the model . We will model the exterior shape with tube , since it is having nine parts connecting outer part to inner sphere so we are going to make the segments of tube in multiple of nine say 45 for good smooth model and then we are going to delete 8 parts of the tube, same is the procedure for inner spherical design we will use semi sphere.
Firstly we will put mercdes slr rim pic in 3dsmax top viewport as background and do setting as follows.
Secondly make a tube in top viewport matching with the rim in background picture of rim in top viewport and delete those polygons of tube which are under blue line in the below picture to model by using editpoly modifier or by converting tube to editpoly .
After deleting marked polys our work with tube is finished .
