If you are modeling a male, then follow the illustrated torso steps. The technique is the same as the one used for the female. The big difference is that you will have to create more edges so that you can shape all the muscles. As with any human modeling, it helps to have an artist’s anatomy book handy for reference. Just keep in mind that you are modeling surface characteristics of muscles and bones. This means the ones that show on the surface. Anatomy books often show underlying muscle groups that you do not need to model. Just like any artist who depicts the human form using traditional tools, the computer artists needs to develop a good sense of proportion.
