Making of "Willpower" by John Strieder Head For the head I took some photos of my girlfriend as references for the expression and – in neutral expression – as a base for texturing work. I roughly mapped the photos on the head with ZMapper, then sculpted out the expression and finally did a complete over paint in ZBrush via polypainting. Head basemesh … Melting … and with sculpted facial expression This is a combination of ZBrush-Sculpt and Metaballs. If using Subtools, ZBrush has something like collision detection or intersection prevention so I was able to sculpt against the head and was safe, as the melting gun touches her head, but doesn’t intersect. I made mostly use of the Elastic-Brush here. Clothes ZBrush-Sculpt against the head as subtool Metaballs I made simple meshes and deformed them in ZBrush to make them more natural looking. Th en I added details like the zipper and the stitches. I did the same procedure on the arm. Th e textures are scans of clothing I have collected.
