Game Character 3

“Creating game character – part 3” by Les Padrew
24. To mirror properly, you need to remove the polygons along the seam.Select them,as shown in Figure 62,and delete them. These polygons are not needed in the model and will cause problems later when you try to mirror the model.

25. Now you can go back to modeling the face. You will use the Cut tool in the Edit Geometry rollout to add some needed polygons to the eye of the character.Cut the polygons,as shown in Figure 63.

26. When cutting polygons you will often find that the vertices created might not line up perfectly with the vertices already there. After every cut,I always check to see whether there are more vertices than I need.In this case I got an extra vertex inside the nose (see Figure 64).I had to remove this vertex.

27. Now you need to move the vertices around the eyes to better follow the shape of the eye.In addition, cut some of the polygons around the nose to give it a more natural shape.
28. There will be a few vertices that need to be welded together. You can use the Scale tool to bring these vertices together and the Weld tool to join them,as shown in Figure 65.
